Scope

This policy applies to GritBeaver Bookmark: the Bookmark Host desktop application for Windows and browser extensions for Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave.

Creating an account, applying for a license, or paying on this website may involve separate data described on those forms. This page focuses on the bookmark product.

Data stored on your computer

Your bookmark library is stored locally on your PC, not in the extension package and not in our cloud:

  • Bookmark Host keeps folders, bookmarks (title and URL), separators, add date, and last-opened date in a SQLite database under your user profile.
  • Optional favicon images and link-check results for URLs you saved are cached locally by the Host.
  • If you enter a license token, the Host stores it locally to validate Pro features.
  • Browser extensions store UI preferences only (panel layout, theme, language, shortcuts, expanded folders, icon colors in the panel, and similar settings) in extension storage on your device.
  • We do not upload your bookmark library to GritBeaver servers for sync or backup.

Extension storage (not your library)

Extension storage does not contain your bookmark tree. It is used for:

  • Whether the side panel is open and its width, side, theme, and spacing.
  • In-panel settings such as link checking, favicon refresh, tooltips, and update notifications.
  • Per-item display choices (icon and background colors) that the extension merges with data from the Host when rendering the panel.

Data sent to GritBeaver

When you save a license token in the extension or Host, the Host sends that token to our entitlement API over HTTPS to verify whether editing and other licensed features are allowed. We use the token to answer allowed/denied and expiry; we do not receive your bookmark contents in that request.

The Host and extension may check for application and extension updates via a public version API that does not require your license token and does not include your bookmarks.

Standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) may be recorded for security and operations when you contact our APIs or this website.

Requests to other websites

When you enable related features, Bookmark Host may request pages or favicons from URLs you saved (for example to refresh a site icon or check whether a link responds). Those requests go from your computer to the sites you bookmarked; we do not use them to build advertising profiles.

Opening a bookmark in the browser is a normal navigation initiated by you; we do not receive the content of pages you view.

What we do not do

GritBeaver Bookmark is not designed to:

  • Collect or sell your browsing history (the list of every page you visit).
  • Log keystrokes, mouse movements, or scroll behavior for analytics.
  • Run remotely hosted code inside the extension; logic is bundled in the extension package.
  • Use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

Browser store disclosures

If you install our extension from Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Chrome Web Store, or Mozilla Add-ons, store forms may ask what data the item handles. For GritBeaver Bookmark that typically includes authentication information (your license token) and website content you choose to save (URLs and titles), processed as described above.

We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside approved uses (operating the product and validating licenses).

Retention and deletion

Local bookmark data remains on your device until you delete it in the app or remove the Host and database files.

Clearing the license token in the product removes the locally stored token; server-side retention of entitlement logs follows our operational policies.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
